Yesterday I sent an e-mail to Secretary Chao indicating poor performance of Philadelphia Backlog Processing Center.
I have done that many times and all she did was referred me to head of foreign Labor certification. She knows what is happening but she could not do anything about it because her hands are tied due to the limited budget allocated for foreign labor certification. Very ironic don't you think. :mad:

OK here is a question.
Person working for past 4 years in the US.
Applied LC this February (2/26/07)
wants to go to canada and then reenter may be next year.
According to the new point based GC system--
1) Will the person get points for the 4 years of work in the US? (those 4 years were continuous, however, the person applies for GC after the canadian break of lets say 1 year)

I am in the same boat, was planning to leave for India on 12/25 had to cancel tickets. My spouse is on an F1 and hence cannot re-enter without AP. Tried to expedite by contacting CSC, senator, congress rep. Know that it has been approved, but is waiting for production which could take 2-4 weeks. Applied on 08/03, notice date 09/13, supposedly approved on 12/12 awaiting production. This has been really frustrating. If you are on a valid H or L visa you can come back on it without any issue.

I agree but we have to send faxes now while the bill is still HOT (even it didn't pass)
Why can't we have a fax campaign like NumbersUSA and fax the respective senators.
I think when it is re-introduced again we need to flood the nay/abstained senators with faxes asking them for changing the vote.

Looking through the ammendments, one that stuck out was about the drunk driving conviction. The ammendment makes it a deportable crime. Well, not that we would ever be stupid enough to drink and drive. But, if you do, and you get caught, be aware of the serious implications it may have.
Arihant, i thought that was only for illegals. Somehow i dont think that Drunk driving is one of our major problems ;-)

Just out of curiosity, what's stopping you from doing some of these things now? You probably cannot spend 3 months with your family in India and Dubai or go to culinary school full-time but you can definitely do all the rest while on H-1B/AOS.

IV will become ready for elections when we have real candidates with real faces. I request all real candidates to publish their photos and accomplishments, their ideas for the organization; so that we can choose the best person for the job.
Any volunteers? Why don't I see a single volunteer! Seriously, can we have an election without candidates?!
I feel that initiator of this thread is not trying a coup d'�tat. He is merely pointing to the fact that every organization runs by elected officials. Having a life term president and core group is only heard in autocratic systems but not in a democratic one. What are we as an organization?
Why are we afraid of discussing new ideas? Why shouldn't we open up IV organization for elections? There is nothing wrong in declaring the rules and then playing by those rules.
So I completely support the guy who came up with this suggestion.

I am not sure if USCIS will move beyond April 2004 until Jan 2009 due to the holidays and election and as someone said they want to take it easy. Even if they move the dates it does'nt help unless they approve cases with certain process in place.

3 reasons:
1. The work - when I came here the work I was interested in wasnt being done back home.
2. The work culture - working under most desi managers is a pain in the backside and really stifling for me.
3. Continuity - set up life here, got married, had my son. Its hard to just pull the plug and walk back.
GC is just the means, not the end.
